TLV320AIC3106EVM-K: Increase gain/volume of digital microphone

Part Number: TLV320AIC3106EVM-K
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3106

Tool/software:

We have a product that uses the TLV320AIC3106 audio codec, and we're preparing an upgrade that will potentially use the digital microphone path. We've been testing the eval platform with the MP34DT05-A digital microphone connected to GPIO1/2, and we're recording successfully.

However, our recordings seem more quiet than preferred, so we'd like to increase the gain/volume on this input if possible. The digital mic doesn't have access to the analog paths of the codec, but is there a way to increase gain or volume from the digital microphone using the internal circuitry of the codec?

  • Hi Andrew,

Unfortunately there's not a control for the digital volume of the ADC like there is for the DAC. However you can implement it the same way on the receiver side; it wouldn't make a difference in performance if you increase the digital volume on the codec side or the receiver side.

    Best regards,
