TLV320DAC3100: EMI/EMC issue

Part Number: TLV320DAC3100

Tool/software:

Hi team ,

We are using TLV320DAC3100IRHBR DAC in our project,

During EMI/EMC test cases, we have found the issue with 442MHz in radiated emission test. Also, while using field probe measurement near the TLV320DAC3100IRHBR IC, we have found the harmonics of the 442 MHz source. Kindly provide the suggestion to fix the issue.

Also, please find the below-mentioned schematics and field probe outputs. for your reference.

Thanks & Regards,
Yovel

  • Hello, From your post I gathered that you are not using our EVM. In almost all cases you can trace the EMI issues related to the layout of the board and component used. From the schematic I do not see any issue related to design. I can give you the guidelines for sources and a very specific pare regarding EMI for TLV320DAC3100 here.

As you know the sources for EMI can be

    • Integrated circuit I/O switching
    • Package
      • Leadframe
      • Bond wire
    • PCB tracks
    • Via
    • Ground and power planes
    • Cable assembly

The device and package , including lead frame and bond wire are  already selected  for a given IC so you have to concentrate on the other issues that related to the layout of your board. Here are few guidelines when one designs PCB with EMI/EMC in mind:

    • Protect sensitive components from noise
    • Reduce noise emitted to the nearby circuitry
    • Optimize grounding/return paths
    • Keep noise-sensitive analog pins/traces away from noisy power pins/traces

    Hope this can help you.
