TLV320AIC3109-Q1: Does High Power Output driver Truly Support Differential outputs via HPOUT/HPCOM or it requires BTL load to achieve Differential signals?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3109-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

I see contradiction between the 2 tables and section 7.3.7

According to section 7.3.7, the Codec does not support Differential outputs on High Power output driver

But the 2 tables shown below indicates the opposite.

Can you please confirm what is correct?

Thanks

Chirag

  • Hi Chirag,

Jeff is out of office this week, so please be patient as his responses will be delayed

  • Hi Chirag,

The output drivers can be configured to send signals independently as two single ended outputs OR as a differential configuration - I believe what section 7.3.7 is saying is that the two driver outputs can be used in a pair differentially (the BTL configuration) or to drive one single ended output with the the other at a constant level, or two single ended signals. It is not extremely clear there, but if the two single ended outputs are configured with register 38 for HPCOM to be a differential of HPOUT, then the two single ended outputs are configured as one differential pair. I hope this makes some more sense, let me know if you have more questions.

    Best,
    Mir

  • Hi Jeffres !

Thanks for confirming. It is all clear now.
