TAS5825M: Audible noise at output inductors

Part Number: TAS5825M

Tool/software:

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with an audio amplifier where there's audible noise coming from the output inductors. I'm not sure how to begin troubleshooting this.

The load is 4 ohms (5 W), and the output inductors are part number BWVS00606045100M00 (10 µH, 2.7 A, 57 mΩ, 100 kHz).
The PVDD supply is at 6.3 V.

Could anyone help point out possible causes for this issue or suggest how to approach diagnosing it?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hello,

When do you hear the buzzing? Is it with no audio playing, with audio playing, or both? If with audio playing is it only a certain levels (high or low volumes)?

  • Sorry for not being clear earlier. I can hear the music being reproduced by the output inductors—some frequencies at least—at a very low level, but still audible when close enough.

The behavior is the same with or without a dummy load.

  • Hello,

Interesting, overall I believe this is due to the makeup of the inductor. I would try changing the device Class-D switching frequency to see if that helps. If that does not solve the issue you may need to look into different inductors. It's also possible that this is happening due to saturating your inductor in which you would need an inductor with a higher saturation current rating. Is this buzzing only present at high audio levels or also at low audio levels?
