TPA3220: Regarding the short-circuit current protection of the TPA3220

Part Number: TPA3220

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Regarding the short-circuit current protection of the TPA3220, is the following understanding correct?

  • When the output current exceeds the overcurrent threshold, the output current is limited to the maximum programmed level in each switching cycle.
  • If the maximum output current persists, the device shuts down the affected output channel, and that output becomes a high-impedance state until the RESET cycle begins.
  • During this time, the output from the GATE-DRIVE is off.
  • The time from detecting the overcurrent in the output channel to limiting it to the maximum programmed current is 150ns.
  • The time from when the output channel becomes a high-impedance state to when the RESET cycle is initiated is 1.7ms.

Best regards,

Kyohei
