PCM6240-Q1: Inquiry Regarding Register Settings for PCM6240

Dear Texas Instruments Support Team,

My name is Nobutomo Tanaka from Bose Automotive.

We are currently developing software for a device using your PCM6240, and I would appreciate your guidance regarding the register settings. I have two questions as outlined below:

The descriptions for CH5_CFG0 Register (page = 0x00, address = 0x50) and CH6_CFG0 Register (page = 0x00, address = 0x55) do not include the comment “Applicable only for PCM6x60-Q1.” Since PCM6240 is a 4-channel input device, I would like to confirm how these registers should be configured when using PCM6240.

Related to the above, for registers that are marked with “Applicable only for PCM6x60-Q1,” could you please advise on the appropriate settings or behavior when using PCM6240?

We would greatly appreciate your prompt response, as we are currently in the midst of software development.

For both (1) and (2), the recommendation is to leave the register bit fields to default values.

Thank you very much for your prompt response.
Your comment is really helpful.

Now I understand that for both (1) and (2), the recommendation is to leave the register bit fields at their default values.
This means that it is not necessary to send I2C commands to configure those registers.

If my understanding is incorrect, please kindly let me know.

Yes Nobu-san, that is correct.

There are some registers through, where only certain bits are “Applicable only for PCM6x60-Q1", in that case, when doing I2C writes into these registers, it is recommended to maintain the default value of these bits.
