TAD5112: line out load is as low as 470ohm

Part Number: TAD5112

Tool/software:

Hi

team

My customer use line out load will be down to 470ohm,if TAD5112 can support as I saw datasheet should be more than 600ohm

but I also saw TAD5112 can support 16ohm headphone load, not sure if we can choose headphone driver to drive 470ohm line out load, what affect it will cause?

  • Hi Amber,

the Line-out and Speaker out have different drivers and you can configure the device for either  headphone or line-out drive capabilities. The drive capabilities are different and for headphone it can only drive loads  b/w 4 to 600 Ohm. On the other hand Line-out can not drive anything lower then 600 Ohm.

The line out signal level is typically fixed with high impedance that is used to be connected to audio equipment with high-input impedance . Usually headphone outputs have a built-in amplifier that boosts audio signals to a level that makes them audible in headphones and they are low impedance. So you have to  choose one or the other based on you device that is going to be connected.

  • Hi Arash,

should I use headphone driver to drive a fixed line out signal which has low impedance as 470ohm? not sure if headphone driver has the capability that can output 2Vrms

  • Hi Amber,

As I explained above, the lineout has a different signal level,  so  you can not use one for another one.
