TLV320ADC6140: requirements check

Hi Sir,

My customer is seeking an Audio ADC device that meets the following requirements.

Could you please help confirm whether the TLV320ADC6140 is recommended, or if TI has a more recent solution? Thank you.

Function request: 

1. The maximum input signal is 24dbu.
2. At 0dbu, the signal-to-noise ratio must be greater than 75dB.

    Any of our audio ADCs will be able to achieve this noise level, however I am not aware of any that can tolerate this input level. The TLV320ADC6140 has a differential full-scale input of only 2-Vrms.

    The PCM6xx0-Q1 family can support 10-Vrms full-scale differential inputs (22.22dBu), which still does not meet your requirement, but is quite close.

    相当于要评估输入信号126mv的时候,我们的TLV320ADC6140理论信噪比和THD能否满足我们的需求。

  • For a -24dB input, the datasheet SNR values will be decreased by 24dB. This should remain above 75dB for all cases with a 1kHz input. However, the datasheet specs are only measured at this frequency, so we cannot say for sure whether the SNR will maintain this value at 20Hz or 20kHz.

  • Hi Jie,

    For a 126mVp signal, I measured an SNR of around 83-85dB with DRE disabled. Enabling the DRE will improve this by 6-10dB.
