DIX4192: S/PDIF to Analogue

Part Number: DIX4192
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DIR9001, PCM1789, PCM1754, PCM2900, PCM2902

Tool/software:

I'm not finding the selection tables easy to use, and I'm looking for the easiest solution to achieve S/PDIF (AES3)  input and 2 channels of analogue output. Any suggestions?

  • Hello Ian,

DIX is a transceiver so it can  transmit different digital formats at its outputs form the given  input (including S/PDIF)  .

If you want to generate an analog output from S/PDIF input, you need to feed the output  (I2S  or LJ or RJ or any format) of DIX device  to a DAC so the DAC can convert the digital signal to  an analog output. DIR9001 supports many output system clock and output data formats. So you can feed in SPDIF to it and get I2S out ( as an example) and then use a DAC that takes the generated I2S to create an analog output.

We have many different families of DACs (HW and SW). TAD5xxx is our latest family of DACs but we have PCM51xx or PCM52xx  or PCM1789 or PCM1754 ( depends what specs you are looking for)

    Regards,

    Arash

  • I can't believe that there isn't a one-chip solution.

  • If you dont need a transceiver in your system , you can use one of our  codecs such as PCM2900 or PCM2902 or 06.

  • I don't see a route from S/PDIF INPUT to the DAC in the PCM2902. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the S/PDIF input appears only to lead to the USB output.
