Hi everyone,

We're looking to build an audio mixer with 2 inputs and 1 output. The codec we need doesn't require a host to operate; it should work in standalone mode once it's programmed.

I'm not sure if the TAC5111 or any of its family members (TAC5112, TAC5212, TAC142) can do this.

Can you help us find the right component?

Hi Lahoussine,

The TAC5212 seems it would fit for your application, as it is capable of processing 2 analog inputs simultaneously (TAC5111 only has one ADC channel) and digitally mixing the signals to the output. It can operate in controller/master mode, but will need a MCLK signal supplied to the GPIO pin as described in this app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaaeg6a/slaaeg6a.pdf

However, these devices must be reprogrammed after every power sequence as it does not contain on-chip memory.

Hi Lahoussine,

All of our audio codecs require an I2C host in order to be programmed after every power up sequence. Unfortunately, I don't see a one-chip solution in our portfolio.
