Hi Team,

I am using the output LC filter as specified in the reference design, with PVDD set to 19 V and a switching frequency of 384 kHz.
I wanted to know the idle current under those conditions, so I searched through this forum and found the following thread:

There are two things I’d like to request.

1. Would it be possible to provide a similar graph for the TAS5828M?

2. What percentage of variation should be assumed for the idle current?

Hi Noriyuki-san,

May I ask what is the LC filter values you used? Also in which modulation mode for TAS5828M? BD, 1SPW, or Hybrid? Thanks.

The values and modulation I am using are as follows:

L : 10uH
C: 0.68uF
Modulation: BD

I found below application report.

According to this report, it states that the ripple current flowing through the inductor (L) contributes the most to the total idle current.
In other words, I understood that the variation in the output inductor accounts for the majority of the idle current variation.

Aside from the output inductor, are there any internal components within the TAS5828M that contribute to PVDD idle current?

If so, could you please tell me:

Which parts have a significant impact on idle current, and
What kind of parameter variation (tolerance or fluctuation) we should expect from them?

Hi Noriyuki-san,

The idle current depends on the LC values, modulation mode(PWM duty cycle) and PWM frequency. Basically TAS58xx devices all have very close idle current if LC filter, modulation mode and PWM frequency are the same. Regarding the parameter variation, I will further investigate and get back to you early next week. Thanks.
