Dear TI expert,

I have a question regarding the AGL function of the TAS5830.

Configuration details:

TAS5830 Configuration: Stereo 2.0, Base/Pro (2.0 96k)
PPC3 Version: v3.3.0
TAS5830-SW Version: 3.0.1

Under the above conditions, I have configured AGL, but it does not appear to affect the output waveform.
For your reference, the Equalizer and DRC settings are working as expected.

Could you please advise what might be causing this issue?

I'm having some issues with the modified TAS5830EVM I have on hand, I ordered a fresh EVM which should arrive sometime next week. I will update you once it arrives and I'm able to check the AGL function.

I'd like to share some additional information.
When a signal with a sample rate of 96kHz is used as input, the AGL does not affect the output waveform.
In contrast, when using a signal with a sample rate of 48kHz, the AGL affects the output waveform.

The issue is the same whether the input signal is SPDIF (Optical) or I2S (J27, 28, 29).
Also, the issue is the same regardless of whether the input signal bit depth is 24-bit or 32-bit.

Please note that the digital signal assumed for my project’s application is I2S at 96kHz and 32-bit.

Hey Takao,

I was able to get the AGL to affect the output waveform using both the Stereo 2.0, Base/Pro (2.0 96k) and Base/Pro (2.0 48k).

Once you enable the feature, you need to set the threshold where you want the AGL feature to begin adjusting the gain based on the input signal level.

Did you go in and adjust this threshold? If so did you provide an audio input with a level high enough to trigger the AGL feature?

On your side, in the Stereo 2.0, Base/Pro (2.0 96k) configuration, is the AGL setting affecting the output even when a 96kHz digital signal is input?

Please refer to my previous comment. On our side, the AGL setting does not affect the output when a 96kHz digital signal is input. This is the issue we are facing.

Hi Takao,

Apologies for overlooking that, I wasn't able to get the AGL feature to affect the output waveform with a 96kHz digital signal. Let me confirm with design that this feature works properly with a 96kHz input.
