TPA3100D2: ROSC function chip selection

Part Number: TPA3100D2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3131D2

Hi TIer

My customer has recently chosen a speaker driver for medical ultrasound products because it is used for Doppler sound output, so he needs to output a fixed number of frequencies. My customer would prefer the ROSC feature of the TPA3100D2 because it can configure the output frequency via a resistor, which is easy for the customer to test and use. But the chip looks old and doesn't have an EVM board. So could you please help to see if we have an updated product that has ROSC-like products that can be recommended to my customers?

  • Hi Tony,

Why are they wanting to adjust the switching frequency with a resistor?

What are their load/output power requirements? This will help me make a recommendation.

    Regards,

    Sebastian

  • Hi Sebastian

The purpose of frequency adjustment: Customer use tpa3116 to verify that there is interference in the signal chain at 8MHz to 12Mhz, so customer want to adjust the switching frequency. Customer want to check which frequency no affect to signal chain.

The load is mono which greater than 10w, power supply greater than 12v, better if 15v is supported.

Could you give some suggestion about TPA3100D2 or other ROSC function chip, we need a EVM to test. Thank you very much.

  • Hi Tony,

We have other devices that can change the switching frequency using an external signal, so this is why I ask if they really need the external resistor to change it. It might be easier for them depending on their design.

From our newer devices, TPA3220D2 has the frequency adjust pin that uses an external resistor but can provide alot more power than your application needs.

Our other analog input devices such as TPA3131D2 can have their frequency adjusted but not via a resistor.

    Best regards,

    Sebastian
