TAS5827: 1ohm load

Part Number: TAS5827

Hi Team,

Posting on behalf of our customer.

I would like to inquire about the feasibility and potential risks of the following configuration:

Speaker Impedance: 1Ω
Amplifier Mode: PBTL
Supply Voltage: >24V

Could you please confirm:

Is it possible to use a 1Ω speaker in PBTL mode?
Is operating with a supply voltage above 24V supported in this configuration?
Are there any risks or considerations we should be aware of when using this setup?

Your guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

Per the TAS5827 datasheet this device only supports down to 1.6 ohm loads so that is where we can verify performance, but technically you can use lower loads depending on the output voltage. Essentially you need to ensure you are below the OC threshold with headroom. The below equation can be used for PBTL mode to determine min impedance.
