TLV320AIC3254: Looking for a suitable Audio codec

Part Number: TLV320AIC3254
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAC5212

Dear Team,

We are planning to use the TLV320AIC3254 device in our design. We had initially selected this part because it featured Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capabilities. However, in the latest datasheet, these features have been removed. Could you please clarify the reason for this change?
(Note: “Deleted ‘Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC)’ and ‘Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)’ from applications list” is mentioned in the revision history.)

Our requirement is to support two microphones and two 4 ohm, 3 W speakers using the built-in audio amplifier. The device should also support active noise cancellation, and it would be preferable if there is a pin-compatible alternative available in space-grade quality.

Please suggest a suitable device that meets these requirements.

With Regards,

Yashash

  • Hi Yashash,

The AEC/ANC features on this device have been deprecated, but we are working on new solutions with AEC/ANC built in. What sampling rate are you looking for this AEC? And what end equipment?

Also, note that the AIC3254 does not have a built in amplifier for 4 ohm speakers, the headphone load expected is 16ohm. I do not think we have a 2 channel input and 2 speaker output codec at the moment but this upcoming solution may have a variant for that. In the meantime, I would recommend looking into using a TAC5212 codec with a TI stereo amplifier and DSP to host the AEC/ANC algorithm, like the C55 or C66 lines.

    Best,
    Mir
