TXB0104: TXB0104 vs TXS0108E

Part Number: TXB0104
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0108E,

Hi

The application is audio I2S signal voltage conversion (VDD_CLK=3.3V and 1.8V):

Initial version: Using TXS0108E, which is compatible with Open Drain and Push-Pull, the function passed the test, but the driving capability of the instrument was weak.

Updated version: Using TXB0104, there are two problems:

(1) When switching to the TXB series, using two 4-bit ICs, Push-Pull connection to I2S signal; when connected to the test instrument, the audio is abnormal, and the SDATAO_ASRC of the oscilloscope probe will pass, and the I2S data pin 1.8V is converted to 3.3V;

However, when testing with TXS0108E, the above problem does not occur.

(2) When VDD_CLK=1.8V, some ICs can be used with 1.8V. It is not clear whether there is a problem with Automatic Direction Sensing. The oscilloscope can measure the signal, but the audio output is abnormal. When the IC is removed, the four signals at both ends are short-circuited and there is no problem.

  • Hi Kevin,

    Please provide the waveform differences between the TXB0104 and the TXS0108E for debugging, along the full schematic of the I/Os used with the TXB0104 and TXS0108E. Note that both of these devices prevent limited output drive, due to its auto direction capability requirement.

    If your I2S signals are not truly bidirectional per channel, there is also the TXU0x04/ AXC4T245/ AXC7T774 that can be used as well.

    Regards,

    Jack
