PCM2906C: Device description

Dear Support,

I have finished my design with PCM2906C. It works properly, but I needed to have Microphone input instead of line-in. I have designed proper buffer to drive electret microphones and everything works properly.

Nevertheless my customers demands to change the description it shows in system (both windows 11, Linux Debian 13). They want to see there "Microphone" not the "Line".
Could you pelase help me with this issue ?

Hi,

I am glad you have the device working as expected. This description change is more of a OS driver issue than a chip issue - but I found this article online with instructions to change an audio device name in Windows 11. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/rename-audio-output-devices-in-windows-10

For Linux, I found this article, and there is also a GUI called Wireplumber that seems to be able to rename audio devices as well. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1313183/how-do-i-rename-audio-devices-in-ubuntu
