TAA5412-Q1: ESD issue

Hi team,

The customer needs to perform ESD tests at ±2kV, ±4kV and ±6kV, but the ESD rating of TAA5412-Q1 is ±2kV. They are using a 100V/110nF capacitor as an ESD discharge device in MIC1+. Can this design withstand direct electrostatic discharge of ±6kV? If not, do you have any recommended solutions?

Hi Jade,

All of our -Q1 devices are qualified under AEC Q100 standard shown in the above table, so we cannot confirm that the TAA5412-Q1 or any of our other ADCs can withstand 6kV ESD stress.

Hi Garret,

I'd like to confirm whether it's possible to make the TAA5412-Q1 withstand 6kV ESD stress by adding external components, such as adding a 100V 110nF capacitor to MIC+ as shown in the figure above. Thank you.

Hi Jade,

I believe you would need to add ESD and/or TVS diodes to GND to protect against this level of ESD stress.
