LM4562: LM4562NA/NOPB load Mouser Tech Request-474966

Hello,

 

a customer ordered 10 of the LM4562NA/NOPB at Mouser and came back with the following:

"In my design, I took into account the fact that at a voltage of +/-15 V,
the power supply load is typically 10 mA and a maximum of 12 mA. This is
in line with the specifications. However, I am measuring between 14 and 16
mA. How is this possible?

"The operational amplifiers were mounted as followers in a circuit at room
temperature. The output and negative input were connected, and the
positive input was connected to ground via a 1 Mohm resistor. This allowed
me to measure the offset, which is in line with the specifications. The
power supply, a laboratory power supply, has a 100 ohm resistor on the +15
V connection, which allows me to measure the supply current. I also
performed this measurement with an ammeter, obtaining the same result:
14-16 mA. I use 10 of these operational amplifiers in my circuit, and if
they consume more than expected, I will have to adjust the power supply."

    Device specs like quiescent current are always tested during production and those that don't meet the limit are discarded. One initial concern is the 1MOhm resistor at the non-inverting input. This resistor interacting with the bias current could be throwing things off. For every spec in the datasheet, we guarantee it will be the given value under certain test and circuit configurations. Could the customer ground the non-inverting pin and try this measurement again.
