TAS5830: Selecting between Software mode and Hardware mode

Part Number: TAS5830

Hi Team,

Posting on behalf of our customer.

I am writing to you because I have a question regarding when the TAS5830 latches the ADR pin to select between HW and SW mode. I am currently making a PCB, where I would like the flexibility to select if I run HW or SW mode in software.

On page 43 a startup procedure is described, which states that the ADR, HW_SEL0 and HW_SEL1 pins should be setup before powerup. But is that actually necessary? Or can I change their value while keeping the PDN pin low? And thus change between HW and SW mode on-the-fly?

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

Yes the device hardware should be configured before power up. If the device is fully powered down you could switch to hardware mode, but why does the customer want to do this? You have full functionality of the device in SW mode. If I2C is available, I am not sure why they would like to utilize hardware mode.
