TSC2046: Question

Part Number: TSC2046

Could you please provide an explaination of the technical difference between the TSC2046EIRGVR and the TSC2046IRGVR?     We understand it is ESD related, however we need more specifics now that the TSC2046EIRGVR is being discontinued and we may need to use the TSC2046IRGVR.   Could you please also confirm that the TSC2046IRGVR is not current going EOL?    Thank you.

  • Hi Lisa,

    ESD information for TSC2046:

    HBM: 8kV

    CDM: 1kV

    MM: 200V

As for the TSC2046E, as mentioned in the datasheet the device "Exceeds IEC61000-4-2 ESD Requirements - 15kV Contact Discharge - No External Components Needed"

There are no current plans to EOL TSC2046IRGVR.

  • Hello Garret,

My question was more involved and specifically asked what the difference between the E and non-E parts are.  We understand that the E version meets those parameters, we just now need to know if the non-E is used, what difference that will be when it comes to ESD protection.

    Thank you,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

The TSC2046E is designed with more internal ESD protection, such that it meets the 15kV standard I mentioned earlier. TSC2046 non-E does not have as robust internal protection, but it still has ESD protection to meet the 8kV HBM. To meet the 15kV standard it will require additional external protection.

    Best,

    Garret
