Hi team,
Purpose
To confirm the lifecycle status of the EVM and any replacement options.
 
Background / Setup
  • The EVM includes a microphone device.
  • We believe this microphone device has already been discontinued (EOL).
Issue / Concern
  • If the mounted microphone is discontinued, we are concerned about the long-term availability of the EVM.
Questions
  1. Can we consider that this EVM will also become EOL due to the discontinued microphone device?
  2. Are there any plans for a replacement EVM or an alternative solution?

    There is no plan to discontinue the EVM at this time. If the microphone becomes discontinued we will consider pin to pin replacement options.

    We are encouraging customers to consider the TAA5212 as this is the newest generation of parts. It generally can replace ADC3101 except for the miniDSP applications.

    believe that both MD9745APZ-F and MD9745APA-1 have already been discontinued.
    • Could you recommend any suitable microphone part numbers?
    • Alternatively, what microphone specifications (e.g., sensitivity, SNR, interface type, frequency range) should we prioritize for optimal performance?

    This is a suitable alternate for both MK1 and MK2 that would be suitable:

    When selecting microphones the key things to look for are SNR (for quality), Frequency Response (does the bandwidth capture the signal of interest), and the supply voltage requirement. Most mics of this size and package don't get better than 60dB SNR. Frequency response can vary, and supply voltages are usually relatively low (2-5V typical)
