LM48903Eval User Guide and Software

Hi,

There is no user manual for TI's LM48903Eval module. However, the user guide for LM48903Eval seems to be the same guide for LM48901.

Is there a separate guide for each board (i.e. LM48901 and LM48903) or is there only one user guide for both?  What about the software for each EVM? is it the same software?  Please advise.

Regards,

TG

  • TG,

The 48903 currently does no have an EVM guide or GUI.  Both the GUI and EVM guide are being finalized and will be released soon.  Until then, you can use the LM48901 GUI to control the LM48903.  The LM48901 users guide will help you with software installation and guide you through the GUI for the LM48903.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

  • Royce,

Thank you for your response.  I've already tried setting up TI's LM48903 using the 901 User's Guide.  It is not straight forward,  If anyone at TI has some crude document showing how to setup the jumpers on a 48903 board I would appreciate it if they could share it.  I am afraid I could damage my EVM if I wing it.  We can take this conversation offline and onto email if you'd like.  Once again, thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    TG

  • Royce, Any updates on when the actual guide for LM49803EVM will be availble? The guide you suggested (LM48901) is not quite the same and there has been difficulty using it. Please let me know when TI is planning to release a guide for the LM49803.

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

Royce is out of the office this week.  I do not know what the current schedule is for releasing the LM48903 EVM guide, however if you have any specific questions on the setup please post them on the forum and we can assist you through any issues you are having.

    Regards,

  • Nisha,

How did TI factory engineers managed to test LM48903EVM without a guide? I'm sure someone must have taken some notes on how the EVM was setup and tested.  Please ask internally to the team that tested the EVM if there are any notes.

  • TG,

Here's a quick description of the board set up.

Install jumpers JU6,7,8,9,10,11 and 12.  These jumpers connect the supplies and ground such that you only need to supply a 3.3V- 5V supply and GND across PVDD and PGND.

Install JU13, 14 and a jumper across positions 2-3 of JU17 to enable the on board crystal

Install JU15,16, these are the I2C pull ups

Install JU5 to VDD - enable the device

If you are configuring the device through i2C, you can leave JU1, 2, 3, anf 4 open. If you are using the preset ROM modes, install jumpers to te appropriate positions to acheive the desired operating modes and gain settings (see the product data sheet).

Connect audio source across INL+, INL- and INR+, INR-.  Connect speakers across OUTL+, OUTL- and OUTR+, OUTR-.

I've attached the EVM schematic.  7120.48903DBrev2.pdfWe are completing the dedicated LM48903 control software.  Once that is done are ready for release, we will have a detailed users guide for the GUI and EVM.
