I have an application where I need an audio to USB interface for recording to hard drive but I need to have the sound cards audio output to be active for monitoring purposes. I built a small PCB with the PCM2900 and it works great except the computer's Headphone output is disabled since the PCM2900 os being recognized as the audio device. This may seem like a stupid question but can I configure the PCB2900 to allow "recording" and still have audio out via the compueters sound card/ headphone output?

Which software are you using? In GoldWave for example the record and playback devices can be configured separately.

I believe the recording software is ACID by Sony. I did not personally use it, one of my collueges tried the hardware I gave him to test. I'll have to ask him if he could possibly change the playback and record configuration separately as you suggest. thanks for the suggestion, we'll give that a try!
