miniDSP and the AIC3254 AGC ?

Hi,

I am considering switching over from the ACI3104 to the ACI3254 and would like to know of the AGC processing component available with the miniDSP.(available in the purepath studio).

Namley does the miniDSP control directly the MICPGA of the codec (which to my understanding is an analogue pre-amplifier before the ADC etc. and directly controlled by the AGC algorithm in the codec), or is the amplifier of this AGC purely a digital implementation within the miniDSP ? If the later is the case, can both AGCs be used, or only one or the other ? It would appear the miniDSP component in the miniDSP can be applied both to the input and the output of the codec, which is the reason for my question ...

If the AGC component is a digital AGC then I would like to be able to filter the ADC input of noise prior to applying an AGC component to the processing of the input signal so that only "relevant" signal energy triggers the AGC function ...

I ask kindly if somebody from TI could clarify my question regarding the essential difference between the classic AGC in the AIC3254 and the miniDSP AGC component that is available as a building block in the PurePath environment ??
