PCM2704 USB Audio Driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2704

Can we get a hold of a USB Audio Driver for Windows Embedded Standard 7.
We are using our old ATI with the TI PCM2704DB USB Audio device in it … and we need the driver.

  • From what I can tell, the USB audio drivers should be imbedded in Windows.
I don’t think TI has these drivers, we make our part work to the driver standards in Windows.

    It should plug and play.

This works as you say with my desktop Windows 7 system.  It is not working however with Windows Embedded Standard 7 (WES7) that I am evaluating.

Most devices installed this way on WES7 with no problems.  In some cases I had to locate the drivers online and then make them available to the WES7 system and they worked fine.  The only subsystem I have not been able to get to work is the PCM2704.  I already tried disconnecting, uninstalling, reconnecting, etc. (several times).  It just can’t figure out what driver to use.

In fact the WES7 system does have the drivers in it.  It is simply not recognizing the device and so the drivers are not installed.  What I probably really need is the INF/INI file.  In short, the automagic is not happening on WES7 and I need a manual work-around

  • Ed,

Is this with the EVM?  If so what are the settings?

  • Verify jumper settings are correct.
Per our EVM schematic page 4  Users Guide, SLEU114, there are several jumpers that allow USB power.
Default setting is SELF POWERED meaning it is expecting a 5V wall adapter into the power connector CN3.

So the jumpers need to be changed to the below for USB BUS POWER.

JP1: Shorting plug of jumper JP1 must be removed.  PSEL
JP2–JP8: Shorting plugs of jumpers JP2–JP8 must be connected
       2-VDD  3-VCCL   4-HOST   5-VCCR   6-VCCP  7-HOST   8-INA for AND gate U5

JP9, JP10, JP11: Shorting plugs of jumpers JP9, JP10, and JP11 must be connected on the SELF side.
       9- 2 to 3   VBUS,    10- 2 to 3    11- 2 to 3
