Problems with Burr Brown DF1704 with I²S audio input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DF1704

Hello,

may I ask you for help, thank you. I cant get this digital filter running with I2S input. It works well with standard right justified MSB first, but doesnt with I2S.

My I2S source has got MCLK out with 512fs, I connected it to XTI of the DF1704, SCK to BCKIN, WS to LRCIN and SD to DIN. Is that alright?

My I2S source offers 3,3V LVTTL output, I checked with the datasheet of DF 1704, should be alright, no?

I hope you can help me, I dont know what to do anymore. I just changed Pin 3 from low to high in order to change the input format, the rest was working perfectly and should again, but doesnt. That what comes out of the DAC sounds like 50% music + 50% noise. A sync problem? Or format problem?

Thank you very much for your help,

Florian Mayerhoffer

  • Hi, Florian,

You are aware this device is listed as NRND, Not Recommended for New Designs, right?

Looking at the d/s, the input voltage should be compatible with your LVTTL levels.

Do you have IW1 and IW2 set correctly? See table IV in the d/s for more details.

  • Hello,

thank you very much for your answer. I have already found the mistake, you are right IW0 was set wrongly. It took me days to find out as it was already working before with the same settings??? Something mysterious must have happened, I dont know. But doesnt matter, it's working perfectly now, thanks again!
