MEMS digital microphone converter

Hello everyone,

I have a MEMS digital microphone that outputs in PDM format which I need converted to PCM. I have a Stellaris DK-LM3S9D96 that I'll be interfacing to it so I can do the conversion in software (I'm currently looking for libraries that will accomplish this) or I could use a DAC. If I go the DAC route, do you guys have any recommendations?

No need to apologize, us hardware guys realize software is much more difficult... (imagine me gazing off lovingly into my pre-s/w days...)

@Don : Thanks for the quick response! Ok, from your links I take it that the following chips will do what I need :

However, they all seem to be sold in huge quantities and for prototyping purposes I only need a couple. I could request a sample but I'd rather pay for it; any suggestions?

I also noticed that they all come in a not-solder-friendly packaging which makes it hard to interface to... how do you guys prototype with these?

Believe it, or not, one of our guys in Japan actually dead-bugged a WCSP package with wire-wrap wires!!! YIKES!!!

Probably the best thing to do is get an EVM.

And, we are happy to send out a few free samples. We have no way to sell them, but if you REALLY want to buy them, you might be able to find them at Digikey in onesy-twosy quantities.
