Question about PCM2902

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2902, PCM2902B, DIR9001, DIX4192

Hi all !

I have a question about the PCM2902 chip;  it's possible to use the same as analog audio to SPDIF converter without connect the same to a USB port ??? and powered it with an external 5V power supply ??.

Thanks in advance.

  • No, unfortunately the PCM2902B cannot operate as a S/PDIF converter without the USB interface.

However, for that application, I would suggest checking out some of our digital audio interface parts.  The DIR9001 (receiver) and DIX4192 (transceiver) both have S/PDIF conversion capabilities.

  • Thanks a lot by your fast response. I'll check for the items metionetd. Thanks again !

  • Dear Nick

I tested the PCM2902 with sucess in recoding and reproducing audio files. However, I did not managed to get real time monitoring audio at the PC speakers when I am connecting a radio receiver at the input.

Apparently, the driver software does not allow me to set it for monitoring the input  in real time.   May you suggest something for such application?

Thanks for your dedication and time

  • Jorge,

Just to clarify, is your set-up an analog input to S/PDIF encoded output?
