[ PCM1681 ] Pop and Click noise caused by switching streaming.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1681, PCM1690

Hi,

My customer has been using PCM1681 for few years and for different type of audio applications.

However, recently they have noticed me that they often have pop and click noise issue when their system intends to switch streaming.

As work-around, they have implemented software-based work-around which is guessed to control external mute circuit, but this implementation consume so much resources.

Now, toward for 2014 mode, they would like to resolve issue with anything better solution.

It's really appreciated, if you can suggest some ideas for my customer.

Please let me know, if you need further information from me.

Thanks,

Ken

  • Hi, Ken,

Thanks for your post. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Are you saying that they used to not have pop problems, but more recently (with no other changes), they see pop problems?

Unfortunately, we don't have any newer 8-channel devices...

  • Hi Don,

Thank you for your reply. No, customer has seen same issue fso long time and now would like to resolve it.

(They want to  stop implementing soft-ware workaround.)

We guess that the root cause of this audible noise is due to transition of Fs and/or  asynchronous of SCK, BLK and LRCK.

For these cases, do you think that analog mute function of PCM1690 can help customer?

    Thanks,

    Ken
