LM4752 application question.

Dear Sir

Good days,

May we check if LM4752 have other reference design circuit or application note& layout guide ?

due to i just can find datasheet in website.

Another question is may TI have I2S input 100W mono speaker driver? selection guide seem just only 25W.

and my customer want to use in woofer,

    Unfortunately, there aren't any application notes or guides for the LM4752. This is a fairly simple power op amp where standard layout rules would apply. Are there specific concerns or questions that we might be able to help with?

    I don't see a one-chip I2S input 100W solution, but this is not my area of responsibility. It looks like there could be a two-chip solution using one of the digital processors like the TAS5086 with one of the Purepath parts like the TAS5612A in BTL mode.

    Maybe D2 or one of his guys have other suggestions.

  • Hi, Bogey,

    I like JD's suggestion of TAS5086 driving TAS5612A. You can then do the summing and LPFing for the sub in the TAS5086 digitally, and have zero analog circuitry!!!

    You will need to use an MSP430 to boot up the TAS5086 and load the filter coefficients into it. Unfortunately, we don't have any self-booting I2S-input devices; they all require the use of a micro like the MSP430.

    The Thermal Considerations examples and explanations start on page 18 of the datasheet. 

    The thermal resistance for the DDPAK is 2 degC/W and for a stereo solution the heatsink thermal resistance can be determined from Example 2.

    From datasheet page 19 point out "clip-on heatsinks". may you have suggest vender? due to customer and me have no this kind heatsink.

  • Hi Bogey,

    If you want to use the LM4752 in the TO-220 package, I'd like to suggest that you look at the LM4755. The LM4752 is presently not available in the TO-220 package, but the LM4755 is. The parts are essentially the same, except the LM4755 has a mute pin.

    Any heatsink manufacturer should have an appropriate heatsink for the device depending upon the thermal resistance needs created by your design. The link below is one manufacturer:

    One more selection option below: You can use the parametric table to get to the right thermal resistance for your design.

    I don't think you mean LM4753, do you? It's obsolete...

    I checked the LM4752, and it has a link to the wrong footprint. I will check to see if I can get that fixed.
