hi,
Can I operate PCM27xx without a PC? If I connect my input, for example a simple usb microphone and I enter the operating voltage to device?
Thanks!

Hi John,
You can operate the PCM27xx in self-powered mode with an external power as an alternative to using the PC (which is a power source via USB for the PCM27xx). The datasheet describes the typical application of a self-powered PCM27xx on page 32 (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/pcm2707c.pdf). Also note that the application assumes there is power from the external source (ie your usb microphone) and uses the Vbus --> HOST for attach/detach detection.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have a second question. Can this PCM27xx give power to device?
Hi John,
Sure! you can power both the PCM27xx and the microphone through the Vbus pins. Figure 35 of the datasheet shows a bus-powered configuration with Vbus of PCM27xx supplied from the external device. What you can do is provide the 5V supply to PCM27xx between the Vbus pin and the USB connector. Then you are able to supply both the PCM27xx and the USB microphone you are connecting to it as well. Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions.
