Hi,

We have developed a PCB with the texas´s chips CC8520, CC2590 and AC3104 following as closely as possible the reference design CC85XX-CC2590EM. Although the audio quality is optimal we are not satisfied with the radio range and we want to evaluate it in some way.
For this we are interested in implementing the test described in application note AN089. We have the PurePath and SmartRF04EB evaluation boards. We wanted to know if there is a way of programming the C8051F of SmartRF04 as external host only using the SmartRF Studio in order to receive trough it the response to the commands PS_RF_STATS and PS_AUDIO_STATS.

Hi Belkis,

You can perform those tests using the CC Debugger (comes with our CC85XXDK and CC85XXDK-HEADSET, or sold separately: http://www.ti.com/tool/cc-debugger) in combination with our PurePath Wireless Commander tool: http://www.ti.com/tool/purepath-wl-cmd

The latter is a PC tool that allows full EHIF access through the CC-Debugger with script and RF test capabilities built in.

If you have access to our CC85XXDK, it is often very beneficial to do a side-by-side comparison of the range to see what can be expected.

There is no obvious way of doing this through the SmartRF04EB I'm afraid.
