How flat is frequency response of PCM5102 ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SRC4392

Dear All,

On behalf of our organization I am posting this information request. We are in requirement of a DAC having a flat frequency response of upto +/-0.01dB in the range 30Hz to 120kHz. I have gone through the documentation but could not find any information regarding this. Could any one shed some light on it ?

Regards,

Debasish Deka

  • Hi, Debasish,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products!

Unfortunately, I am not sure which device you are asking about. Can you post the full part number, and I will follow-up.

  • Thanks Don,

I am referring to the AD51xx family of DACs. I found them to be supporting sampling rates of upto 384k. We were actually looking for some DACs having flat frequency response of up to +/-0.01dB in the range 30Hz to 120kHz.. As I read their datasheets I could not find references to our requirements, but potentially I suppose this family of DACs should satisfy our requirements.

    By AD51xx I meant the AD510x series - AD5100,AD5101,AD5102 and the AD512x series namely AD5121 and AD5122.

I suppose their features are similar other than AD510x supporting only hardware control and AD512x supporting both hardware and software control.

I have additional requirements to specify but this is the most important one. So once I can be sure of this we can continue further.

  • Hi Dan,

Also please let let me know if we can feed 32 bit raw data at a sampling rate of 384k. The reason I am asking this is because I found the sample rate converter present in its evaluation board PCM510xEVM-U to be supporting a maximum sampling rate of 216k.

I suppose it is merely an issue of the sample rate converter so the DAC should be fine, but it interferes with the evaluation of the DAC.

  • Hi, Debasish,

OK, I think you are referring to PCM51xx family, right?

You confused me by saying AD51xx.

Let me ask my colleague to look into this for you.

  • Oh,

Sorry for this mistake. What I need is :

1: Flatness of around 0.01dB in the passband region of 30Hz to 70kHz.

    2. In the evaluation board for PCM51xx what is the role of SRC4392. The later's datasheet tells it supports a maximum sampling rate of of 216kHz. In that case how can one test 384kHz audio?

    Thanks again,

    Debasish
