1000 points FFT Audio compensation

Hi,

My customer is working on a stereo home audio system and has an idea to add an fixed compensation circuit to it. They want to add a fixed 1000 or 1024 points FFT coefficients to the audio signal to obtain a flat frequency response curve across the audio band. The audio source is in analog, and the output can be either analog or digital.

Not sure is it feasible to implement with any audio dac and purepath studio ?

Hi, CM,

We usually use biquads for that type of thing.

These are a standard component in PurePath(tm) Studio.

Hi Don,

Thanks for your reply. So it there are 1000 nodes to adjust, 1000 Biquad filters will need to be implemented ?

If yes, can any dac handle this ?

Hi, CM,

My esteemed former (now retired) colleague, Steve Crump, wrote an app note on using biquad filters to flatten frequency response of speakers. Just look at the first part of it, the second discusses how to implement these using op amps - you will be using the miniDSP to implement them in the digital domain.
