TPA2015D1YZHEVM Gerber Files

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2015D1YZHEVM

Afternoon,

My question is with regards to the TPA2015D1YZHEVM gerber files and relates more to the commercial aspect than technical. As such if this not the appropriate forum for such a question, do let me know where I can have the below questions answered.

My understanding is that this unit is an evaluation model only sold for eval and dev purposes and not as production unit. If this is indeed the case, is there:

                1) A production model board sold equivalent in spec to the eval board?

                2) If no production model board is available for sale, can anyone use the gerber files (available on TI site) to create a board similar to that of the eval board or does TI not allow that?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Bilal A.

  • Hi, Bilal,

As you surmised, this EVM is meant just as a tool to evaluate the performance of the device, and not intended for production.

But, you are welcome to use the gerber files to build your own boards, but you assume all risk...

  • Hi Don,

Thanks for the response. I guess this means there is no actual production equivalent board sold by TI to make use of the audio amplifier only the eval module?

Also, our team had a look at the gerber files and in order to build the board we noticed an item that might be necessary. Would TI be able to provide the artwork package and the layer stackup ordering information for the eval module? If so, with whom would I have to communicate for this request? Thanks again!

    Bilal A.

  • Hi, Bilal,

Texas Instruments is a semiconductor company, we typically only sell ICs, not boards or other system-level solutions.

The EVMs are meant as a promotion tool for our devices.

The .zip file in the EVM Product Folder should have everything you need in order to build up the boards.

  • Hi Don,

    Thanks for your answer.

I'm working with Bilal on this and I looked at the artwork Gerber files. The TOP layer is well defined, but the BOTTOM layer is missing all information (copper, placement, silkscreen, etc.). Could you please check with TI on the availability of the source design files to rebuild the artwork?

    Thank you,

    Alexander

  • Hi, Guys,

Sorry for the delay. We looked at the files, and didn't like the way some of the things were done, so we "improved" them, but it's mostly philosophical things, the PCB should end up being the same when built (copper pours and things like that).

Attached is the updated Gerber files.

Let me know if you need anything else.
