TLV320AIC1110EVM kit 15bit linear mode.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC1110

Hi,

I'd like to use TLV320AIC1110EVM as slave mode & 15Bit linear mode. But master side chip can support 16bit linear mode only.

Does it have any problem when this communication 15bit linear(slave) mode and 16bit linear mode(master)?

Which point do I consider to make this communication? Please guide it to me.

Thx.

  • Hi Robin,

The extra bit after bit 15 (LSB) will be ignored so this should not be a problem.

  • I have a similar problem - I'm driving the TLV320AIC1110 from a BlueGiga WT11i, and I get nothing but distorted audio when I connect via Hands Free Protocol.  When I generate a low-amplitiude tone from the WT11i chip, it sounds right and looks right on the scope - a clean sine-wave.  When I up the amplitude at all from there, it shifts into mega-loud distorted screeching, and the scope shows the signal going wild all over the place.

I am suspecting the 16-bit output of the WT11i is incompatible with the 15-bit nature of the TLV320AIC1110 - some bit-rollaround is occurring when the top bits of the PCM signal go on - but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
