TLV320AIC3104EVM-K

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3104EVM-K, TLV320AIC3106, TLV320AIC3104, TLV320AIC3107

Hi, please can you help me?

I get a TLV320AIC3104EVM-K Rev A evaluation board last days (08/2013) and download newest documentation.

The jumperlocation in the discription is different to the jumperlayout on board.

Maybe i have a older board revision.

Is there any other documentation?

Thank you

Gerhard

  • Hi Gerhard,

    Thank you for your question.

The board you have is up to date, however the documentation is incorrect (and is in the process of getting fixed).

    **Correction**

The previous table below had a few assumptions about the application. Here is the full jumper list with descriptions (the default position is now consistent with the TLV320AIC3106)

    Jumper

    Default Position

    Jumper Description

    JMP1

    Installed

    Connects Analog and Digital Grounds.

    JMP2

    Open

Selects onboard EEPROM as Firmware Source.

    JMP3

    Installed

    Connects onboard Mic to IN2L.

    JMP4

    Installed

    Connects onboard Mic to IN2R.

    JMP5

    Installed

Provides a means of measuring IOVDD current.

    JMP6

    JMP10

    2-3

When connecting 2-3, mic bias comes from the MICBIAS pin on the   device; when connecting 1-2, mic bias is supplied from the power supply   through a resistor, which the user must install.

    Installed

When installed, shorts across the output capacitor on HPLOUT; remove   this jumper if using AC-coupled output drive

    JMP12

    Installed

When installed, shorts HPLCOM and HPRCOM. Use only if these signals   are set to constant VCM.

    JMP13

    Installed

When installed, shorts across the output capacitor on HPLCOM; remove   this jumper if using AC-coupled output drive.

  •  Hi John,

    thank you, now works.

Installation with w7 drivers was very hard also very hard to find the NI-VISA drivers. I found no info at your homepage.

Have a other Question: Please can you give me a info what to switch on and off to use filters.

I tryed to play with filters but nothing happen. I use Input IN1R and Output RIGHT_LO.

    Regards

    Gerhard

  • Hi Gerhard,

Glad to hear it! The instructions for win7 drivers will be added in that update.

Well, let me understand a little bit more about what you are trying to do. What is the input for your system? Are you using ADC or DAC filters? What coefficients are you using? And, how are you verifying the success/failure?

Just as a note (assuming you are using the GUI), the filter coefficients aren't loaded onto the TLV320AIC3104 until you press the "Download Coefficients" button.

    ~John

    Hi John,

thank you, i use the GUI for start to learn about the codec. Input comes from a stereo cd-player. Output goes to a class-d amp. Our goal would be to generate a frequency-separating filter for a 2-way speaker. Ex left output is deep frequency(200 - 2k), right output the high(2k - max). In the moment i have no coefficients exactly. I just play around to get a feeling with the GUI and Eval Tool.

I tryed with ADC or DAC filters (download coefficients .....than effect filter on) but in sound is no change to hear. It does no matter which filter or coefficient downloaded.

Hope you can give me a idea to find filters working.

    best regards

    Gerhard

  • Hi Gerhard,

I think I may know your problem. What input are you currently using with your output (Line2, PGA, DAC)? If you are using the PGA, you are bypassing the filters. (For reference see page 3 of the TLV320AIC3104 Datasheet here)

Using that diagram, the signal path for your audio (in order to work with the filters) goes into IN1R to the PGA then to the ADC then to DOUT,*** then back from DIN then to Effects (i.e. DAC filters) to Volume Control then to the DAC and finally to the speaker.

(***Note: The DIN and DOUT must be tied (shorted) together - this is done externally from the AIC3104 chip. The easiest way to do this, using the EVM, is by putting a jumper on the modEVM motherboard on J14 across "IN" and "OUT" - J14 is located just above the EXT MIC input )

The settings inside the GUI (for your configuration), will have the Right ADC on, the Right DAC on, as well as the Right DAC Datapath set to the "Right Channel Input", lastly the input setting for your speaker will be the DAC_R and powered on.

Depending on the power you need, you may want to look into the TLV320AIC3107 as that has a built-in class D amplifier.

I hope this solves your problem.

    Regards,

    ~John

  • Hi John,

so it work, my falt was the short (DIN - DOUT), thank you for this tip, i did not find such a info.

At this diagram is IN...PGA...ADC and a switch called SW-D1 or SW-D3, i was thinking this is the effect on checkbox in the GUI and route through to the effects.

    Best regards

    Gerhard
