PCM2906B Mic Input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2906B

Customer asks:

We are using PCM2906B (http://www.ti.com/product/pcm2906b) on our I/O hub.  One of the issues that has been brought up is that the driver only supports input on one of the microphone inputs and not both.  Are you aware of an update to the driver or any additional information that might address this?

[jp] My response: I looked at the data sheet and as far as I can tell, the device only has one mic input not two.

Please comment....Any work arounds?

    Description:

    •             They are using PCM2906B to connect to a microphone.

    •             Using Terminal #4 as Analog Input

    •             Microphone is HARD WIRED connected to RIGHT CHANNEL

    •             It looks like the USB Driver for a Microphone input connect MONO to the LEFT CHANNEL, not the RIGHT

                  CHANNEL.

    QUESTIONS

    •             Does the USB Driver set up for Terminal 4 connect to Right Channel Only on the Analog Input ADC?

    •             If so, can the USB Driver be modified to connect to Left Channel?

    •             Are there any update to the driver or any additional information that might address this so the LEFT

Channel can be used for a Microphone Input?

  • Hi, Jeff,

Unfortunately, I don't think we have a good solution to this.
