Hi,

Our customers evaluated TAS5538 EVM.
There was a difference regarding loudness settings between data sheet and GUI.
Why is it different?
Could you please tell me the reason?
And if you have the application note regarding loudness settings, could you please send us it.
Moreover, Could you please tell us the meaning of the following parameters.

<Loudness Registers>
(1) Loudness Log2 gain(LG) - Address:0x91
(2) Loudness Log2 offset(LO) - Adress:0x92
(3) Loudness gain(G) - Address:0x93
(4) Loudness offset lower 32 bits(O) - Address:0x94
(5) Loudness biquad(b0, b1, b2, a1, a2) - Address:0x95

Best Regards,

  • Hi Kato-san,

Can you please provide the detail of "difference regarding the settings between the DS and the GUI"?

I think the GUI has the log gain and gain registers reserved. Gain register should be 0x93 and Log Gain should be 0x91.

Datasheet section 3.7 has a detail description of the Loudness compensation function with an application example. You can use the following ALE tool to generate the BQs for the loudness biquad.

    0726.ALE 5.2.zip

    Paul.

  • Hi Paul-san,

    Thank you for your cooperation.
We will confirm to our customers regarding the loudness settings, use ALE and inform you to it.
If we obtain questions from our customers, could you please advise us?

    Best Regards,
    Kato
