TPA2012D2 ESD Susceptibility

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: STRIKE

Hi,

Our Customers would like to know ESD susceptibility of the human body model and the machine model.
And is there a possibility that a sound does not come out by conducting ESD test of 10kV against the speakers?
It really happened.
Could you please advise us about this cause?

Best Regards,
Kato

  • Hi, Kato-san,

the device passes all of TI's requirements for ESD, which I believe is 2000V HBM and 200V MM.

However, the test your customer is doing has nothing to do with HBM or MM, they are doing IEC ESD testing, and this typically requires the customer to implement external ESD protection.

The problem occurs when the strike happens, and if you don't protect the device externally, it causes the short-circuit protection circuitry to trip since it sees a huge current spike from the strike.

TI has many ESD protection devices that you can add to prevent this.

  • Hi, Don-san,

    Thank you for your cooperation.
We will ask our customers regarding esd protection devices that they have used, suggest them of TI.
We know that TI has good solutions.
If we obtain an additional question from our customers, could you please advise to us?
    Thank you so much.

    Best Regards,
