TAS5538 the Method of Loudness Register Settings by Using ALE and GUI

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5538

Hi,

We would like to know the method of loudness register settings by using ALE(Automatic Loudspeaker Equalization) and gui.
For example, the conditions are as follows.

fc = 100Hz
Q  = 2.0
When the master volume is -20dB, it is value the effect is started.
When the master volume is -100dB, the maximum value is 10dB

In this case, we would like to know that how to calculate and valid loudness register settings.
If you have an application note regarding this, please send us it.
Could you please advise to us about it as soon as possible?
Our customers are waiting our reply.

Best Regards,
Kato

  • Hi Kato-san, I will send you the software via email. reg, Paul.
  • Hi Paul-san,

    Thank you for sending ALE 5.2 quickly.
    But, we have obtained this software.
    We would like to know how to use ALE, calculate the best settings of loudness.
    We referred to "3.7 Loudness Compensation" on page 29 of data sheet, could not understand it.
    If you have a procedure of the optimization, could you please send your documentations to us?

    Best Regards,
    Kato

  • Hi Kato-san, First I would use the ALE to determine the BQ coefficients and register bits for 0x95 Register. You can simply enter the Fc and Q into the ALE and it will provide the BQ coefficients. Next I will program the BQ using the TAS5538 GUI and tweak the Gain LG (0x91) to observe the response on the AP until it meets the requirements. Attached in the email is a example for the spec below - EQ:f0=80Hz / Q=1.5?, a little boost --- VOL @-15dB、+18dB boost --- VOL @-80dB Hope this helps. Reg, Paul
  • Hi Paul-san,

    Thank you for explaining a procedure.
    Regarding your customers settings, could you please tell me how to entry these parameters to the loudness filter window?
    We shows the loudness filter window as follow.

    We could not find the item should enter Fc and Q.
    How would you be input concretely?
    Could you please send it to capture the input window?

    Best Regards,
    Kato
