TAS5630B Clamp diode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5630B, TAS5630

Hi,

When using TAS5630B,is it necessary to insert a schottky diode between OUT_X and GND_X?

When not inserting a diode, are there any problems?

Regards,

Seishin

  • Seishin,

While operating TAS5630B within datasheet specifications, there is no need for shottky diodes.

  • Hello, thank you for your reply.

When referring the page 10 of TAS5630 datasheet, "RL = 2 Ω, 1% THD+N, unclipped output signal" is supported for PBTL.

Meanwhile, when referring the page 10 of TAS5630B datasheet, this term seems not to be supported.

Please let us clarify whether TAS5630B could support "RL = 2 Ω, 1% THD+N, unclipped output signal" without any hardware modification.

We thank you once again for your information.

    Best regards,

  • Atsushi-san,

You are correct that 2R load is not listed for PBTL in the TAS5630B datasheet. The reason is that 2R PBTL load is not supported without external shottky diodes due to reliability concerns.

We do not recommend use of 2R load in PBTL, and as a side comment we also recommend use of the PHD package option when operating in PBTL due to the slightly stronger grounding of that package.
