Hi,
the datasheets of both chips show on the first page "SPI™, I2C™ or Hardware Control" as control modes. Later there is no detailed Information about hardware mode. Sometimes there is written something about default mode or default settings. There is a "Default Routing Block Diagram", too.
All in all I suppose that without any software control the chip can be used with these default settings. If I get the block diagram right, in this mode there is Rxin2 routed to serial audio main output port and serial audio port MPIO_C to Txout. The format of DIR serial audio output is I2S.
SCK dividing ratio is configured according to these parameters:
512x for 54 kHz and below.
256x for 54 kHz to 108 kHz
128x for 108 kHz and above (or unlocked)
Could one please confirm that I read the datasheet right so far?
Now, unfortunately for DIT some information is missing. The format of serial audio input is not specified and SCK dividing ratio, too. I would assume the same as with DIR: I2S and automatic switching between 512/256/128. But is someone able to confirm that?
All in all I would like to know if I could use the DIX9211 or PCM9211 without any control interface to generate I2S out of an AES3 stream and an AES3 stream out of I2S with the same clock ratios on the I2S interface lines, e.g. when connecting I2S out with I2S in I get the AES3 signal from input to output, but reclocked by the 9211.
Best,
Ralf
