Subwoofer Amplifier

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3106D1, TPA3100D2, TPA3123D2

Dear All...

I'm looking good quality amplifier (FET) which would be stereo input and mono out put. The out put power of 40-50watts RMS. Pls help me

Thanks

  • Rohitha,

Could you provide any details about the application? Supply voltage, expected load, is any processing need?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

  • Aaron....

Many thanks to your reply....this will for home theater system and supply voltage would be 25-30 volt dual supply (+25v - 0 - -25v). Since I do have other devices it's need only sub-woofer amplifier.  If it's containing with FET it will be fr better.

    Regards.

  • Rohitha,

I forgot to ask, are you looking for a Class D amplifier?  Assuming yes I would recommend the TPA3106D1. This can deliver 40W into 8Ohms from a single supply 25V rail.

    Other options:

TPA3100D2: 42W into 8Ohms using paralleled outputs, 45W into 4Ohms (above 45W there may be thermal limitations). Also a single supply 25V rail

TPA3123D2: 40W into 8Ohms using parallel outputs, single supply 25V rail.

All of these options are Class D amplifiers with analog inputs.  We don't have any class D amps for this power range that are specifically designed to run off of dual-supplies, but this should not be an issue since these amps all provide BTL outputs.

Please let me know if you need any further support.

    Regards,
    Aaron

  • Dear Friends,

Pl reply if the circuit in the datasheet of TPA3106 is sufficient. If so, what are the guidelines to follow to build an amp around TPA3106.

    Thanks in Advance.

  • I suggest you follow our example in the EVM.

You will probably want to use an op amp circuit to sum the L+R and then LPF the resulting signal.

  • Oh, I just remembered one of our apps engineers in India put this together as an idea for his customers. It might give you some ideas, too.

We have not fully tested the attached design for production worthiness. Use it at your own risk.
