TLV320AIC3120 External Microcomputer Control Using the EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3120

Hi,

If we pull up I2S_ENABLE node to 3.3V, can we control TLV320AIC3120 with the external microcomputer by using connector of P2?
We believe that because 100P-JMDSS-G-1-TF(LF)(SN) is used in the EVM, we use 100R-JMDSS-G-1-TF(LF)(SN).
Could you please advise to us about it?
By the way, what is these connector of P1 and P2 that are described in page 17 of the EVM user's guide used for?
What is the purpose of this connector?

Best Regards,
Kato

  • Yes, you can enable external I2S access that way. The uC reads this pin during start-up and disables it's internal interface if you enable external I2S. Therefore this pin will only have an effect during boot up.

We have internal test boards that can use P1 and P2

  • Hi Hartl-san,

Thank you for your reply quickly.
    We have several questions.
May we supply the power supply of EVM from USB?
Or should we supply it from the external stabilized power supply?
Moreover, can we also control MCLK, I2C and SPI with the external microcomputer by using connector of P2?

    Best Regards,
    Kato

  • You'll get better performance when you use an external power supply.

You'd have to hack the EVM if you want to control MCLK, I2C and SPI (physically cut the traces to the TAS1020b).

  • Hi Hartl-san,

    Thank you for your cooperation.
We believe that because I2C Interface generally support multi-master mode, we can enable external I2C access.
    Is our understanding correct?
In addition, because we would like to disable MCLK of TAS1020B, could you please tell us how to assert OE pin to low regarding SN74LVC1G126DBVR that are described in page 17 of the EVM user's guide?

    Best Regards,
    Kato
