TPA3116D2DAD package discrepancy

Help,

I have a TPA3116D2DAD which has all the physical datasheet properties of the DAP package except the pins are a DAD package... I cannot determine pin #1 and wonder if the pins just got bent the wrong way from a DAP package during manufacture, so the pins would be incorrect, the only indentifier is a dot on the bottom of the device at pin 32 location. I should be able to get some pictures if this would help. Just need to know do I return it, order a new one or install and see what happens?

Hi, Jerry,

The DAD has pad-up so you can add an external heat sink.

If you want the DAP package, that's the TPA3118D2.

The two packages are actually pin-to-pin, so you can use either on the same layout, depending on your power requirements.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response, I actually want the 3116 and that what it says on the chip, but it has the smaller thermal pad like the DAP package on the top side and has no pin 1 marker except the dot on the bottom which is in the pin 32 or 16 location when chip is viewed from the top, it seems I have some kind of a freak chip here and it's not what is shown in the datasheet.

So is the smaller thermal pad on topside the new norm?
