Pairing doesn't work with a long time-out period

We are developing a system using PurePath where we want our devices to bind automatically. We do this by simulating a button press whenever the PurePath status LED indicates that it is alone and not trying to pair.

Initially we set the pairing time-out to 300 seconds, the maximum. It doesn't work properly. If you try to pair after maybe 60 seconds it just won't. We reduced the time-out to 5 seconds and now it binds quickly every time. It seems like there is a bug where long time out periods prevent it binding.
