Shutdown indication TAS5630DKD2EVM board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5630B

New EVM board:6509396-REV A.
After some tests, day 2, changing between 25-48V PowerSupply (good PSU, no overshoot) the Shutdown LED indicates on all PowerSupply voltages and all is muted. For both BTL and PBTL mode. With and without load. Just the normal quiescent current consumption.

On day 1, we tested very hard with R+L loads like 0.3Ohm+400uH and it worked like a charm.

What could be the cause?

We look very much forward to a helping answer.

Thank you

  • Hi Conny,

Is the PWM output switching at 50% duty cycle without audio input?

Do you verify correct voltages on the supply pins?

  • Hi Paul,
thanks for the quick answer as we are in decision mode to change the hole park of systems to Class D.

    Measurements:

    No switching on any outputs.
Supply pins 2,44,23 verified to -12V,
    PVDD=25V/0.05ADC
/SD, /OTW, READY all low so D13/Shutdown indicates.

Note:When applying PVDD the RESET flashes; Could not find any action on pin5/C_STARTUP

We have tried the 3116EVM,3118EVM with the same loads for some time and they work absolute great with less ringing on difficult loads.

    related QUESTIONs/TASKs:

    A) The distributor send us (from US) the old version A. I noted that the TAS5630B has reduced output current. Is this correlated to the failure? Should be mount a new chip-version. Can TI send a chip for replacement?

    B) Output demands=30-36Vrms on high Z and 8-12Arms on Low Z. Seems that this is the TI-chip to choose?
(We prefer the analogue input as we will add some frequency feedback on the actual load to archive constant current for an R+L-load. We could probably accept PWM input if there are good reasons for it, like ruggedness...)

    Thanks
