choosing the right audio amp for a speaker

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2010D1, TPA6205A1, TPA2026D2

Hi

I am looking for an amplifier that can amplify a analog signal from my controller to a speaker.

I want to achieve sound level around the level from a cell phone speaker.

I dont know how much power do I need to have?

does anyone have experience with phone speaker and can help me choose something that can be used in order to achieve smae level of amplification?

the sound I want to play is a regular audio file.

thanks in advanced,

  • Hi,

We have many amplifiers that were originally designed for, and used in cell phones.

    For example, TPA6205A1 or  TPA2010D1

    -d2

  • Hi Dan

I looked on those amps and dont know what is the power I need to get good sound level -  I want it to be able to be noisy. do you have any thumb rule for the power I need from the speaker? the amps you suggested have ~2-2.5W I looked at TPA2026D that can transfer ~3.5W. what do you think?

do you have any link to speaker amp selection guid? or any doc that can give me more basic knowledge before I select the best amp for me?

    thanks,
